Gas in a Glass Box and Dosing Until You Are Sick

Medical test that seem to be ancient that are still being used is the fodder for the conversation in this episode of That Don't Sound Right. Peter and Cecil talk through unsettling  medical tests and remedies — from glass chambers used to induce asthma and chemical cardiac stress tests to electric dental vitality checks, allergy scratch panels, colchicine dosing by nausea, and old creosote cough syrups. They reflect on the discomfort, history, and surprising survival of these practices.  They relate a story of how a long dead physician's carcinogenic cough syrup is still high requested in a modern day hospital. They also welcome and thank all the new listeners joining the podcast.

With a conversational, pre-internet style, they share personal stories, question why some tests still exist, and wonder how diagnostics might improve in the future. If the discussion makes you silently say "That Don't Sound Right," send a comment — you are one of us.
